There is a chance that this happened, but you just don’t know about it yet. I’m trying to figure out what happened because it’s weird: no other files anywhere in my computer were affected

Have you used any other programs with your vault (or this folder) other than obsidian? Someone mentioned some kind of sync solution but you aren’t using sync - perhaps another note taking app?.Are you using an HDD or SSD? You might want to run a disk checking utility and check your disk health via S.M.A.R.T (there’s a bunch of free disk info utilities on Windows I think, like CrystalDiskInfo, and you may want to run chkdsk as well on that disk, google for instructions).

Do they seem “truncated” (file size much smaller than they should be) or “corrupted” (same size, but some kind of bad byte causes the rest of the image to go blank. How large are the images (I presume not very big?).If they look like they were modified very recently (matching what you remember last seeing them intact), then it’s possible something edited them. If they looks like they were never modified, then it’s highly likely you have disk corruption. Try checking the creation time and last modified time of those files - and see if they match up to any pattern as to when you saw them last intact. When did you create these images? (These two questions help create a time window for when it may have happened). When did you see these images “intact” last time?.Regardless, perhaps some additional info might help: With some ~100k downloads for the last public release, this would have been more common if it was an issue with Obsidian core. I have a feeling this may just be something on your end, since I haven’t heard of any reports of issues like this.
